Bluestem U hosting second free Authors Speaking Series event

October, 30, 2025

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – The Bluestem U lifelong learning program at Bluestem Communities will host the second of two Authors Speaking Series events featuring local writers who live at Bluestem Communities on Monday, November 10, at 10 a.m., at Kidron Bethel Village’s Kidron Hall, 3001 Ivy Dr. This free event is open to the general public.

Lauren Friesen, a retired theatre professor, will share about his most recent projects, “The Anabaptists: A Comedy in Two Acts,” which is a translation from a comedy by Swiss playwright Friedrich Duerrenmatt, and “Acting Up: An Anthology of Mennonite Playwrights,” of which Friesen is a contributor and editor.

Janice Pauls will also share her children’s book, “Dandelions are Beautiful”, which was inspired by her son’s real-life adventures growing up on the farm with their various pets and other animals.

A question-and-answer time will follow each author’s presentation.
