Kidron Bethel Village achieves back-to-back deficiency-free surveys

October, 19, 2026

NORTH NEWTON, Kan.—Kidron Bethel Village was recently among 12% of long-term care communities nationwide to be chosen for a new risk-based survey process implemented for high-performing communities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The survey resulted in Kidron Bethel receiving its second consecutive deficiency-free survey.

“While we are a learning organization that always challenges itself to do better, we are pleased to take a moment to enjoy this accomplishment,” said Jennifer Traglia, Kidron Bethel Village Executive Director. “It is the commitment to excellence from each and every staff member, through the clinical leadership provided by Director of Nursing, Shelby McCauley, that has brought us to this point of high achievement.”

The risk-based survey process is designed to recognize high performers while improving efficiency and effectiveness in oversight of long-term care communities. While all communities will continue to be surveyed at least every 15 months, the new approach provides a reduction in both the time required to and the number of staff members needed to conduct standard recertification surveys at the higher-performing communities across the country.

CMS considers quality measures, prior inspection results, staffing rating and overall performance when determining what organizations are eligible for the risk-based survey.

“The surveyors were particularly complimentary of staff’s professionalism with items being reviewed and the timeliness with which requests were addressed,” said Traglia. “We are proud of the care, professionalism and dedication displayed at Kidron Bethel Village.”
