Bluestem Communities partners for Community Care Hospice

Bluestem Communities recently joined 11 other area non-profit senior living communities to launch Community Care Hospice to provide excellent end-of-life care to residents.

“We believe that everyone deserves compassionate care during their final days,” said James Krehbiel, Bluestem Communities President and CEO. “This partnership allows Bluestem Communities to provide our own consistent, individualized in-house hospice service and give residents the best care possible.”

The new service is partnered with Midland Care Connection, a non-profit hospice provider with 45 years of hospice experience. Dr. Mark Wiles, who has more than 25 years of hospice and long-term care experience, serves as medical director for Community Care Hospice. The team also includes RN case managers, a social worker, a bereavement coordinator and home health aides. Community Care Hospice is credentialed for Medicare and Medicaid.

“Bluestem Communities will hold Community Care Hospice as our preferred provider, but both Bluestem life plan communities of Kidron Bethel Village and Schowalter Villa will continue to offer several options for hospice care for residents and their families,” said Krehbiel.
